The Plumb Reticle is named for the Green Beret Sniper who designed it. This reticle is intended for combat marksman and competitive users to achieve rapid engagement solutions with minimal effort. This patent pending reticle is specifically designed to allow the user to engage targets in three modes; reflex, rapid intermediate, and deliberate precision modes.
In reflex mode the reticle allows the shooter to use the variable power scope in 1 power. This results in the user using the weapon effectively against close range targets. Users can use this reticle with confidence in CQC or close stages of a 3 gun match. In this mode, the outer brackets help focus the shooters eye on the 4.5 mill inner arc. This inner arc also represents the width of an 18” wide target at 100 meters. This allows the user to make quick reflex shots from 1 to 100 meters with ease.
This reticle allows for the shooter engage unknown distance targets, very quickly. This is accomplished by determining a known target size. In this case approximately 18 inches for the outer arc and 6 inches for the inner arc. These distance correlate with the IPSC target or the human head or human shoulders. The distance between the arcs are the size of the target in millimeters divided by mil-radians. This size gives the distance in meters away the target is from the shooter. At every 100 meters in distance away from the shooter there is a number representing the distance in meters. This helps the shooter bracket distances to target quickly.
This information is placed on a representation of the trajectory arc of the specific caliber. The arcs of the reticle represent the calculation of distance to target and compensation for bullet drop as the projectile moves through its trajectory. This is the primary problem to engage unknown distance targets at distance. The user places the head and shoulders between the arcs, raises the rifle until the sides of the shoulders and/or head touch the sides of the arc. This is the compensation for bullet drop and the point of aim and impact is the midline of the arcs where the shoulders and or head touch.
Deliberate precision engagement is also supported by this reticle. One patent pending element that supports precision engagements are the milling trees located on the horizontal and vertical lines. These work by allowing the user to determine the size of a viewed target down to the 1/10th of a Mil-radian. This allows for faster and more accurate determining of the size of targets in mils.
This design allows the user to engage targets of unknown distance very quickly. Windage and incomplete views of targets can be compensated for. This system performs the calculations for the end user and provides a mechanism for accurate and rapidly target engagements. This reticle will provide the fastest way to engage multiple unknown distance targets, while still providing the ability to engage reflex targets at CQC ranges.
